Product Description

Regional Wine of Central Greece.

The Collection comes from a single vineyard which has been giving the best quality grapes for the last many years. So Avantis Estate decided to keep it separate and give it a special treatment. Restrictive pruning, low yields (4000 kgr per hectare), strict selection of barrels. The limited number of bottles that are produced (500 – 1500) bottles a year, depend on the vintage diversity. It is sold 'en primeur'.

Variety : Syrah 100%

Location : Arma Boeotia

Vinification : Cold maceration before vinification. Maceration takes place approximately 45 days. Maturation in new french oak barrels 225 lt. (Ermitage and Seguin Moreau) for 18 months.

Tasting notes : Opaque garnet colour with ruby tints and complex bouquet of black and dried fruits (prunes, figs, blackberries), spices and vanilla, constantly developing. Very full palate with aroma of ripe black fruit, jam, pepper, sweet spices, pepper ink, coffee, chocolate and tobacco. Ripe, fine-grained tannins, powerful structure and long length. The suitable word for it is 'Concentration'. It is recommended to be decanted 1 hour before consumed.

Aging : 10 – 15 years
The vineyards of Avantis Estate expand on an area from central Euboea on the East, to Kriekouki on the West and Atalanti on the North. It is a big area with a variety of elements consisting the terroir. The soil range is clay - sand clay - gravel - stone, depending on the spot. The vineyards are at an altitude of 250 - 500 m. lying on flat places, semi-mountainous slopes or even steep mountainous ones.

The winery lies 4 km south east of the town of Chalkis, at the village Mytikas or Ampelia (Vines) right in the middle of Lilantium plain. Modern top machinery is used to help us make quality wines. After the grapes are delivered, they are pressed in a pneumatic press which is enclosed on every side and it is constantly cooled to make skin contact easier. There are stainless steel tanks for fermentation white and red wine and on top of all there is Ganimidis. There is also a bootle rinser - filler (a vacuum filler with nitrogen is used) - corker - capsuler - labeller, a cellar where wine ages and a wine tasting room.

Nowdays Avantis Estate is a boutique winery awarded with lots of medals in international competitions. It is run by capable people serving true values. Quality, production of ancient as well as modern varieties of grapes research about the potency of terroir - these are their goals. Wine production is their only occupation. They share the same passion and a vision to create the 'Great' wine from Euboea.
