Product Description
Varietals: Syrah, Agiorgitiko
Wine Region: Drama, Greece
Wine Making: The mariage between Syrah and Agiorgitiko creates and absolutely excellent wine. Oenotria Land Syrah-Agiorgitiko matures for 15-18 months within new oak barrels from the Allier woods in France, then ages undisturbed in its bottle, in specially arranged underground cellars, for another 24 months.
Tasting Characteristics: Dry red wine, combination of Syrah and Agiorgitiko varieties from Attica. In the glass its bright red colour stands out and on the nose is evident an intense smoky character with aromas of spices. In the mouth, red fruit, with plum dominating are supplemented by mature, soft tannins, volume and harmonious acidity which lead to a long finish laced with notes of oak and vanilla.
Enjoyable now but with potential to improve over the next 5 years and drink well for another 5 or more.
Food Pairings: Pairs with steak, rich red sauces, yellow chesse and game.
Best served: Enjoy it at 18oC.
Domaine Constantin Lazaridi with the distinctive title "Chateau Julia" was founded in the community of Adriani in Drama in 1992. It evolved from a small company of the Lazaridi family, which 25 years ago started producing small quantities of wine. The love and dedication to vine cultivation and wine, led to the decision to organise and expand this activity. Starting with a small 10 hectare vineyard they cultivate today over 200 hectares with the nobles Greek and international varieties maintaining low yields to ensure the best possible quality of raw material.
Their winery covering 13.000 square metres, has to show the most modern equipment in wine making: fully equipped laboratories, pneumatic presses, stainless steel vinification and storage tanks with an electronic temperature control system, automatic bottling machines and all the necessary underground, air-conditioned cellars. They also have areas for the reception of visitors with the necessary audio and visual equipment for seminars and conferences up to 150 people.
Similar to the attention they pay to the quality of their wines is the attention they pay to the presentation of their bottles. Their labels are designed by a well known local artist Yannis Nanos. They also make sure that the rest of the packaging materials, from corks to cartons are the best there is.
From the beginning they gave great emphasis on exports in order for their products to compete in the difficult international market. Beginning with Germany they now export to England, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Austria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic Romania and Spain as well as the United States, Japan, and Canada.
They take part in the most prestigious international exhibitions and competitions and overall they have won over 400 medals and commendations, many of which gold.
