Mavrodaphnae. Deeply coloured, with a hint of brick red. Its fine bouquet harmoniously blends the spicy aromas of plums with those of mocha and cocoa, accompanied by cinnamon and clove. A round and generous wine, its velvety sweetness envelopes the palate and reveals its rich aromatic character, with cocoa and a faint sense of vanilla. Full-bodied, well structured, with an alluring finish.

Over a hundred years ago, in 1890, the TSANTALI family began making wines and distilling ouzo and tsipouro in eastern Thrace. Evangelos Tsantalis founded the company out of deep respect for the beauty of the land and a strong commitment to quality. The spirit and tradition of nurturing the vines to yield the most precious grapes and of a proud winemaking heritage continued to evolve through the passage of time.

Ιn 1945 Evangelos Tsantalis establishes his distillery in Thessaloniki and in 1970 he founds the Tsantali winery in Naousa. On a visit to the holy monastic state of Mount Athos two years later, in 1972, Evangelos Tsantalis decides to bring the Mount Athos Vineyards back to life and the monastic tradition of the Mount Athos wine to the 'outside world'.

Today, the third generation of the TSANTALI family, at the helm since 1996, shows the same dedication to the values of the founder, continuing to create exceptional wines and spirits and taking pride in their constant commitment to only the finest vineyards and winemaking skills.

The Tsantali winery maintains vineyards in Agios Pavlos Halkidiki, in Metoxi Chromitsa of Mount Athos, in Maronia in Thrace, in Rapsani on Mount Olympus and in the historic Naousa. In all the vineyards, either of organic cultivation or intergrated management, the principles of sustainable agriculture are applied. Our philosophy is the cultivation of the vineyards with respect to the environment and the tradition of each site, following the latest developments in the area of viticulture
