Product Description
Red dry wine, from the slopes of Kitharonas mountain.
Varieties: Merlot 100%
Soil: Medium formation and fertility, argil and sandy soil.
Location: North-west direction on the slopes of Kithaironas mountain.
Production: 900kg/stremma
Harvest: The grapes are collected very carefully and they are placed in small plastic crates.
Wine making: Destemming, no crushing, cold soak - skin contact under controlled conditions, alcoholic fermentation at 23oC, maintenance of wine for 12 months with regular stirring.
Ageing: 12 months in freanch oak barrels of Berthomieu and Ermitage company.
Tasting characteristics: Dry red wine, 100% Merlot variety from Attica. Dark purple-bluish. Typical varietal aromas of plum, blackberries, vanilla and chocolate with loamy notes. Oak is a parent but well integrated. Full mouth and body body with high fruit extract and round tannins. Good acidity.
Markou brothers wanted to continue their family's 150 years of tradition and they decided to create in 1983 a contemporary winery, in Attica. Today the 4th generation of wine makers with fresh ideas and high education makes the first efforts to present their wines, while their fathers are always by their side helping and giving precious advice.
The varities they cultivate in their vineyard are: Savatiano, Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, Roditis, Athiri, Moschofileto, Moschato, Malagouzia, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Trebbiano.
The winery of Markou brothers is open to the puplic and they offer from their cellar all their wines for wine tasting.
