Product Description
Our home-made Bergamot liqueur is a very fine liqueur obtained by the maceration in alcohol of the zest of bergamot, known as bergamot orange. It is created according to the old family recipe and following the traditional way of distillation that our grand father, Michael Brettos, used back in 1909. The leaves and flowers of the bergamot are used to make the Bergamot Liqueur. The sweet and strong citrus flavor makes it quite ideal for flavoring teas, desserts or iced beverages.
Bergamot liqueur with 25% alcohol content has a really strong taste and a unique aroma.
Brettos Liquors is the oldest distillery in Athens. It started operating for the first time back in 1909 at the ground level of an Athenian old mansion in the heart of Plaka. At those premises, his founder Michael Brettos, started producing ouzo and liqueur using the very first, hand-made, distiller.
Today nothing has changed in the traditional distillation process and production. The respect to the past together with the fact that Our production remains small, keeps our quality in a very high standard and makes our liqueurs really rare and distinctive.
Earl of Clubs recipe
1 ½ oz gin
1 oz Bergamot liqueur
½ oz homemade grenadine
1 egg white
Separate the egg white from the yolk and drop into your shaker first, then pour in the rest of the ingredients. Give the drink a dry shake first, (no ice), to foam up the egg white. Then, add your ice and give it another vigorous shake as egg white drinks don’t do as well with a limp-wristed shake. Strain into a cocktail glass and you should be rewarded with a divine cocktail with a beautiful foam on top. Enjoy!
