Product Description
Our grand-father Michael Brettos with patience and artistic feeling created this fine spirit and we use the exact same recipe today to produce Brettos Tsipouro. The technological equipment achieving the perfect distillation of the spirit's fractions and our long experience through the tradition and history of years guarantee unreservedly the superiority of our product.
Distillation techniques: Tsipouro Brettos is a strong distilled spirit containing 40% alcohol per volume and it is produced from the must-residue of the winepress. The distillation process lasts for about three hours, during which the product is tested for its alcohol content, and controlled by increasing or decreasing the heat. Finally, the distillation stops just when the acquired Tsipouro has the desired taste.
Tasting notes: Tsipouro Brettos contains no anise, so it remains crystal-clear, even with the addition of water. It has a dynamic nose with an intense aroma, a full taste with a marked presence of the grape and a long aromatic aftertaste, all witnesses to the art of our distillation.
Grape variety used: 100% Hamburg Muscat
Best Served : Enjoy Tsipouro Brettos neat and discover its authenticity. It can be also drunk with ice or icy water, in which case it gives a lovely, rich emulsion.
Food Pairing: It accompanies simple, as well as intense flavours, with a particular affinity for salty and vinegary starters, such as seafood, pickles and salted fish.
Brettos Liquors is the oldest distillery in Athens. It started operating for the first time back in 1909 at the ground level of an Athenian old mansion in the heart of Plaka. At those premises, his founder Michael Brettos, started producing ouzo and tsipouro using the very first, hand-made, ouzo distiller. Today nothing has changed in the traditional distiller and the fascinating distillation process and production. The respect to the past together with the fact that Our production remains small, keeps our quality in a very high standard and makes both our ouzo and tsipouro really rare and distinctive.
